For more than half a century, students from Miami Central Senior High School have traveled a familiar road from Rocket Blvd to the highest of seven hills at Florida A&M University, carrying musicianship, leadership, discipline, tradition, and the spirit of the Rockets with them.
The Rocket to Rattler Scholarship exists because this road already existed. Soulever did not invent the Miami Central → FAMU tradition. Soulever is helping preserve it, document it, fund the students traveling it today, and help carry it forward.
A road more than half a century in the making: students left Miami Central and became members and leaders of the FAMU Marching Band, while FAMU-trained educators returned to Miami Central to prepare later generations.
